Goat meat is the preferred meat choice in East Africa with grilled goat meat roast being a favorite during special holidays and festivities.

To Make this recipe, you will need the following:


2 lbs goat roast meat
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp curry powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tbsp soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 315°F.
  2. Mix all ingredients with a whisk, except meat, in a bowl.
  3. Place washed meat in a large baking pan and pour mixture over it.
  4. Bake at 315°F for 1½ hours.
  5. Remove from oven and let rest five minutes before serving.


A fresh vegetable salad (similar to salsa) and Ugali usually accompanies the roast, which is cut into stew like cubes. Many butcher shops will take orders and prepare it for customers to pick up for either lunch or dinner.
